01 / Heat waves at two scales
My work examined the effects of heat waves in Memphis, Tennessee, at the scale of an individual house and across the city. The goal was to connect a physical model of a home’s thermal behavior with a broader view of how the city is affected during extreme heat.
02 / Modeling an individual home
I developed a thermodynamic model of an individual house in Memphis to examine its response to heat-wave conditions. The model focused on the home’s thermal behavior, providing a way to analyze the problem at the building scale.
03 / Mapping Memphis
I also developed a map of Memphis to examine how heat-wave effects vary across the city. The mapping work complemented the individual-house model by putting the analysis in a wider geographic context. The redacted competition paper is available in the preview below.
